No rooms in Chidambaram

We always make it a point to be in Chidambaram on Sivaratri evening. As do thousands of others.

The temple zone comes alive as the sun sets, with scores of vans and taxis emptying people at the streets that lead to the temple.

Over the years, local police have made secure arrangements to manage the flow of people and of traffic: so life is a tad easy when you have to head to the temple.
Most access it via the eastern side.

With the thousands heading to Chidambaram, you cannot get a room booked even at the most ordinary lodge in this town.

The town does not boast of many good hotels. So many people choose to pray at the temple and move on.
